About the Journal

The Journal of Undergraduate Research in Calgary (JURC) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original undergraduate scholarship from across the University of Calgary. JURC addresses the lack of formal publication opportunities available to undergraduate students by providing a platform for research articles, literature reviews, case studies, and reflective essays. The journal welcomes submissions from students in all faculties, including the natural and health sciences, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and the arts.

In addition to publishing on a regular basis, JURC gives undergraduate students hands-on experience in academic publishing through a student-run editorial board, which oversees manuscript review, editorial decision-making, and the revision process. Through publication, mentorship opportunities, and events, JURC fosters a cross-disciplinary research community that connects undergraduate researchers across the university.
